The rounded shape of the Abeno can be traced to the 1970s when the students of Boston universities wore a certain style of glasses, which were later on named as Boston frames. They are characterized by an inverted triangular design. They create a flattering visual balance and a less overwhelming look than many circular frames.

Our Natural Color Slate lens accurately reproduces the three primary colors, allowing you to see everything as it really is. This lens is solid all around, especially in strong-light situations.

Have a look at our lens guide.

This lens has a silver vacuum deposition mirror coating applied. Compared to our standard multilayer coating, visible light transmittance is reduced by about 5%, providing a clear view in high-glare environments.

    Boston Frame

The emergence of the modern Boston shape trend can be traced to the 1970s, but round lens styles are some of the oldest styles of sunglasses. They are based on early metal frames, when lenses could only be cut round.

Since then, they’ve been established as a timeless style, evolving with tweaks and updates like elongated corners, or brow line accents.

    Premium lenses

All Shinzo Tamura frames feature premium polarized TALEX lenses, handmade in Osaka, Japan. The filter is designed to block 99% harmful UV rays - helping you keep your eyes healthy and see clearer.

    Perfect fit

The non-slip nose-pads are made from skin friendly elastomer, providing the perfect fit. Flexible titanium arms relief pressure, and give Shinzo Tamura frames a distinct and classic style.

    Light & durable

Shinzo Tamura frames are perfectly balanced, ultra light, and made from non-aging nylon material, perfect for an active lifestyle. The double-molded frames are flexible, extremely durable, and do not deform.

The hinges are molded into the frame itself and benefit from the flexible and durable properties of the nylon material.

I was looking for a reasonable pair of sunglasses for taking walks in the snow. These came up via Google and I’m glad I gave them a try.
They arrived in a really nice box with proper explanations on how to set up the nose pads. Which I really appreciated. They fit well, and they don’t slide down the nose. Not even when I’m getting a bit sweaty from walking faster.
I also want to talk about the lens. They say it’s especially made for snow, and you can see that. The instantly give you contrast and let you see the subtle differences in the snowy landscape. And I’d say they really work best on a blue bird day, when it’s really bright out. The effect get a little less when it’s slightly overcast. But they still work of course.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with these. Thank you!

I have bought this pair after seeing a post on Insta. And I really love them they are light and very flexible. The lenses are actually quite amazing. They don’t darken your view like som many other sunglass lenses. Everything looks “real”.
My only critique are the thin arms. I wish they were a bit wider/thicker. But they fit the thin frame well.

Hi Alison, thanks for your feedback. The Abeno is our lightest and thinnest frame, which is mostly visible in the temples, as they follow the lightness of the main frame.

I had these in non-mirror finish before, and exchanged them for mirrored lenses. Simply because I don’t like how light the lenses were. But these are doing the trick!
The lens quality is very good. They definitely talk proudly about their Japanese lenses, but they are extremely good. No distortion or wave effect from the polarization. I can look at my phone and see everything. Same with the display in my car. And I’ve had problems with polarized lenses and visibility before. But these are great. Only a bit light in color.

This lens is amazing. I use these glasses for driving in the snow, and they provide so much definition and contrast. I wish my ski goggles had this lens color. It’s hard to believe that they make such a difference, but they really do. I’ve told many people about them already, because I get a lot of question on how this lens color makes the world look like. And I don’t tell them purple, I say you can actually see better. Well done on these!

A nice and affordable pair of sunglasses. They are light and sturdy. The lens is really the hero here though.
Bought these after reading about the brand on Carryology. They specialize on knowing different environments and delivering the right lenses for those. The amethyst colored lens is recommended for snow, and it really works miracles. When you put them on you get an instant contrast boost. Makes we wonder about trying some of the other lenses (they also have one for cloud days! Curious). But I can really recommend these ones for the snow!
